Fite Building Company is proud to announce the promotion of John Grasty to Partner, recognizing nearly two decades of leadership, growth, and dedication to the company.
John joined Fite Building Company in January 2006 as a foreman and quickly established himself as a dependable leader with a strong work ethic and a willingness to take on new responsibilities. Over the years, he assumed increasing levels of responsibility on complex industrial and commercial projects, becoming a trusted leader for both clients and teammates.

“John Grasty hired on with Fite Building in January 2006 as a concrete foreman working at Nucor Decatur on plant service projects. He had garnered the attention of FBC management some three years earlier on a project in Cherokee, AL, where he was working for a concrete subcontractor. His pursuits had taken him out of the area for a while so when he returned looking for employment, FBC readily put him to work.
At Nucor, John immediately demonstrated a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. Within a couple of years, he was managing all of the Nucor account maintenance and capital projects for Fite Building Company. Then in April 2011, an F5 tornado struck a 425,000sf Structural Tube Mill that had been recently built by Fite. The facility was almost completely destroyed. FBC was called to the site the day of the event and began work the next day. John was pulled in “temporarily” (since he was conveniently next door at Nucor) just to help get the clean-up and demolition started. Within the first week, he had so impressed the owner that they requested he be assigned to the project. For six days a week, 10 to 12 hours a day, John led the field operations as the project superintendent to a successful completion in under a year.
In the 20 years John has been at Fite, his commitment to continually broaden his knowledge of budget and finances, estimating, scheduling, communications, and technology combined with his extensive field experience has been instrumental to his advancement. After the Tornado Rebuild, John has progressed through General Superintendent, Project Manager and Sr. PM roles to presently serve as a Vice President, Group Leader and Share Holder. Hard work, determination, and perseverance still go a long way at Fite Building Company.”
— Mike Brown, Senior Project Manager & Executive Vice President
