About This Project
The Drake State Community College Workforce Training Center is a state-of-the-art, 100,000-square-foot facility built from the ground up to strengthen aerospace and advanced manufacturing education in Alabama. The project consists of two single-story, 50,000-square-foot buildings featuring classrooms, welding and machine tool labs, industrial and electronic labs, additive manufacturing spaces, and additional academic areas. Both buildings include interior equipment platforms and an integral tornado shelter, ensuring safety and functionality. Designed to support in-demand programs such as mechatronics and engineering design, the facility offers collaborative spaces and specialized environments that prepare students for the evolving needs of the state’s industrial workforce. Developed in partnership with Goodwyn Mills Cawood, Drake State Community College, and the Alabama Community College System, this transformative project is a major investment in Alabama’s future workforce.
