Groundbreaking: New Arab City Recreation Center Set to Serve the Community

Fite Building Company is proud to announce the official groundbreaking of the new Arab City Recreation Center — a 38,000-square-foot facility that will soon become a vital hub for sports, recreation, and community programming in Arab, Alabama.

In partnership with the City of Arab and Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC), this project is designed to serve athletes and families for generations to come. The centerpiece of the facility will be a 26,800-square-foot sports floor housing four competition courts, complete with bleachers and court divider curtains, built to accommodate basketball, volleyball, and a wide range of indoor athletics.

Additional features of the new center will include:

  • Locker rooms for athletes and teams
  • A concession stand for events and tournaments
  • A multipurpose room and meeting spaces for community use
  • Office space for the Arab Parks and Recreation staff

GMC is leading the project’s design, civil, electrical, and landscape services. Structural Design Group and Rocket MEP round out the experienced engineering team supporting this development. The project is scheduled for completion in Fall 2026.

This exciting new facility reflects the City of Arab’s continued commitment to building a thriving, inclusive community through high-quality infrastructure and sustainable economic growth.

We’re honored to be part of a project that will enrich lives and strengthen community ties.

What Our Clients Say

"Fite put together a great team of construction and design to deliver a first class Air Cargo building facility at the Huntsville International Airport. The coordination with the project manager to handle design and construction related issues found to be very helpful in managing our workload. The attention to detail from their subcontractors was a cut above what we’ve been accustomed to in the past.

Fite made a somewhat apprehensive client happy with the Design/Build scenario and we’ve continued this model for several projects due to the success of the Air Cargo Facility."
